A Great Studio Workstation!

First some context. I built a studio desk about 6 years ago that has worked well, but lacked much actual desk surface (see photo). My heavy (and old) 88 key MIDI controller sat on a lowered desk surface and I was never able to implement a proper "top" for it. The Headquarter is exactly the same size as my old desk, and as a bonus, matches the style (black metal and walnut veneer) of my storage shelves on either side.

The Headquarter was packed very well, no dings or scratches ( but lots of packing material to get rid of). It was very easy to assemble, I did it myself. About an hour for the desk (taking my time), then another 45 minutes for the keyboard tray. This workstation is very sturdy. While my old keyboard technically "worked", I had to make adjustments that I was not comfortable with. The keyboard tray holding a 50lb (22kg) turned out to be a pain to move around on carpet, my problem, not Wavebone's. In the end I went to my "Plan B", replacing my old keyboard for a nearly as old (by design) Nektar LX 88+, which now allows me to adjust the Workstation perfectly and is much easier to move in and out on my carpeted floor.
On the rack mounts and cable tray: I thought the cable tray might not be enough for my setup, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it worked perfectly. I use the middle rack space for a power strip, which allows me enough space to store 2 hub interfaces and an ethernet switch, actually reducing cabling. On thing to mention, if you have any rack mount device that is deep and has connections that protrude from the rear (like a Word clock BNC for example, you may not be able to put it in the top rack space. I have a UAD Apollo 8p Thunderbolt that I had to move from the top space to the bottom space as my Word clock Out connection is interfered with by one of the cross braces of the desk. This is a very minor issue easily resolved.

So far I am thrilled with my new workstation, I now can do mixing and mastering tasks with my legs completely under the keyboard tray, sitting comfortably upright with not interference. If you have a very "thick" (6+ inches) keyboard and are tall (I am 6'0") you may be slightly uncomfortable trying to get the height of the keyboard tray right. A tip: When considering the distance from the top of the keyboard tray to the desk you need to measure from the top of the tray to the bottom of the desk, then subtract 7/8" (22.22mm) to account for the metal support spanning the underside of the desk.

The perfect desk for our studio!

I decided to order the Headquarter after looking at just about every other desk on the market. I liked the 9U of rackspace on top as well as the ability to house a 88 key keyboard on the separate keyboard stand. This allows us to have one person at the controls while the keyboard can be placed anywhere in the room.

Awesome desk for the money

This is a really well built desk. It fits my needs perfectly and based on the materials and construction I expect it to last for years. I'm glad I gave Wavebone a chance!

Love it!

Recently purchased the Headquarter Workstation and absolutely love it. It looks great, is well made and, contrary to some reviews, is very easy to assemble! Highly recommend!

Solid so far

Sadly I was missing peices to my keyboard tray part so I couldn’t fully build it. Also the rack rails somewhat worry me the way they need screwed in compared to coming pre installed

Hi Max,
If there are any missing parts, please feel free to contact us through INBOX or EMAIL. We’ll be happy to assist you.

FAQ

The material of Headquarter™ is MDF board (not solid wood) and it is wood topped and steel based.
The steel tubes that construct the base of Headquarter™ are thick enough to avoid resonance with loud voices.
We've sold hundreds of sets to various musicians and there's no claims regarding resonance!

Our keyboard stand for headquarter is 53.1 in (135cm), while the desktop width of the Headquarter unit is 57.4 in (146 cm).

Therefore, when you place the keyboard stand  under the table, theoretically, any keyboard between 135 cm and 146 cm should fit.

However, for keyboards exceeding 135 cm, there might be some overhanging parts on the sides. Therefore, we recommend using keyboards under 140 cm, but you can judge for yourself if this will affect your use.

Please refer to our pictures to confirm that your keyboard fits the length, width, and height requirements for the space under the desk.

Once the keyboard stand of Headquarter™ is ready for separate purchase, we will release the news on our website and social media.

Please stay tuned to our latest info!

Sorry that we haven't provided customization service yet. Thank you for your support, we'll keep you updated!

It's not difficult for one person to assemble! It would only take about 20 minutes if you put them together with tools that we included in the carton. If you have an electric screwdriver you can definitely do it faster.

We have an assembling manual in the carton which you could follow step by step.
Also we have assembly instruction videos on the youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-J37y2hrl3k

For the cable tray

No, the Headquarter only includes the main desk and the Z keyboard desk.

But you can add it on your purchase order.
Or buy the cable tray separately on our website. https://wavebone.com/products/cable-tray-headquarter

For the rack-mounting bracket

Rack-mounting kit comes with the Headquarter desk and the rack will be included with the desk.

We're unable to sell the replacements currently.

However, we can ask our manufacturer if they have surplus ones.

Please note that the replacements will be shipped from Taiwan, and the shipping fee will be relatively higher.

Unfortunately, we haven't released the rotating wheels yet, so we're unable to replace regular wheels with rotating ones currently.

Thank you for your support, we'll keep you updated!

The main desk is unable to install the caster wheels on it, since it is too heavy for the wheels to load.

The packages will be shipped separately and there are three boxes in total.
